Inspired by the Estonian novel Piiririik, Borders States abstracted and dived into the obscure existence of people being ‘bordered’.
The word “border” is tempting, it can be considered as political borders between nations, while it can also be psychological borders or physical ones. It sounds like a line, a boundary, however “border states” seem to connect to a piece of land.
In this work we explore various borders, including national, cultural, psychological and sexual. We hope to stretch the border and linger a little longer in there, in order to float in the dynamics of pushing and pulling forces.
